Okay, as one of the many students that still stay in contact with their Muggle associates, I've heard some of the worst "prom dresses" stories that I could ever imagine!! I'm fully aware that our own Yule Ball is a totally different concept than what the Muggles might have, but hearing of those monstrosities has been concerned for Slytherin's outstanding fashion standing.
So for this month, we're going to be talking about things to avoid when finding the perfect dress for the ball.
1. Sequins vs Glitter
Everyone loves being in the spotlight but all of that excessive light bouncing off of the end of your dress? Absolutely not necessary! If you want to outshine everyone else there, then all you have to do is take your shower in glitter. Glitter doesn't reflect as sequins do, instead they shimmer and shimmering is the final goal that all of us want of course!
2. High Heels
There's going to be huge crowds so we might as well have a way to see above all of those heads. High heels might be a little hard to properly navigate, and if you're anything like one of my Muggle connections then the concept of wearing heels just to take them off at the dance is absolutely unacceptable! Might I suggest a nice pair of platform boots? Absolutely follow the idea of the bigger they are the better the experience will be!
3. Jewelry
I usually agree that we all need to have some kind of accessory, but in an area full of that many people it's just asking for disaster. Have you ever had someone pull on your necklace? Your earrings? How about losing a ring within the entire chaos? Yeah, it's not a wonderful experience and I honestly wouldn't want anyone to have to experience that. So we're going to do a hard pass on that entire problem right there.
4. Birds
The distant country of Orlais, people used to have their hair done up in different fashions. I can't remember exactly how that was brought over, but at some point people were putting live birds in their hair, which is something we should be bringing back! Who wouldn't want their own pet crow sitting on top of all those curls? I know I'd certainly love my own pet crow that I could carry with me wherever I wanted.
Honestly, readers, these are the major things that need to be kept in mind while awaiting the Yule Ball to arrive and get that special date that you've been waiting out for!
Good luck Slytherins, and stay fashionable!
