Legends Among Us

By James Rowle XI

It's that time of month again when we all praise the recipients of the Order of Merlin, and Heir of Slytherin. Once more we have two extremely worthy winners(how could we not when the Slytherin Staff picks them?). I also feel like I should make a disclaimer that I did not bribe anyone to compliment me, that just came naturally to the winners because I'm so very very awesome. Now bother are relatively new users which is great to see. Nothing warms this cold, dark, evil heart as much as seeing bright new students continuing the great legacy of Slytherin House. Combined they have only been on HEX for around ten months.

Firstly, the Heir of Slytherin, Merryl (MerrylG). Merryl is an extremely friendly person who can be found roaming in various places supporting Slytherins and encouraging people in all endeavors. I find her an incredibly fun person who many can converse with quite easily. I must admit, I don't know whether she holds any positions on HEX other than being a writer for this very article, SOUP, but I predict big things in her future. Now a bit from the lady herself:

About me...hmmm...
Well, first off, I'm a complete bibliophile. In the 'Most Likely To' title- naming ceremony, I'd be the one given this title - 'Most Likely To Miss Her Own Wedding Because She's Reading'.

I've always considered myself a Ravenclaw, until I got onto Hex and got sorted into Slytherin. Was a bit disappointed at first to be honest, cause I was always in the Blue house at school, and wanted to be in the 'smarty' house here as well.

But then I met (or rather stalked) some really inspiring Snakes - our current prefect and last month's Heir, Morgana Malipiero being my main guide. Her dedication to our House and her 'never give up' attitude regarding the most difficult tasks, all to gain house points inspired me. The silent 'behind-the-scenes' lady of the house, Sam Bradley was another Snake who inspired me.

Along the way, I met so many other wonderful Snakes (including a most handsome Dark Lord and a brooding 'biker in shorts') and finally felt like I belonged here. It didn't take me long to start snacking on the Huffies (*looks around in suspicion* I hope this issue stays within the house!); and become a sneaky centipede poking my feet around various forums to try raking in the points moolah.

I'm also a complete anime buff (probably the only other thing I might miss my wedding for!) and LOVE LOVE LOVE Inuyasha and Fairytale. I hate the chocolate Bounty and best express myself through poems rather than writing. I love Egyptian mythology and would probably get a tattoo of a cat or a scorpion.

On a complete random, side note, I'm getting married in Jan 2017! EEP!

I'll end with a particular saying that I believe is the only one that ever holds true: En vino, veritas.

Now onto the Order of Merlin winner, Yesa (Yesachael). Yesa only started on HEX in August of this year, yet from the first moment I met them I found Yesa a great person. They enjoy roleplaying, homework (now this one I don't understand), and apparently people not running away from them. So a little bit about Yesa in their words:

Well first things first. Thank you James for being a wonderful mentor when I came to HEX. I didn't need you often but when I had questions you always responded in record time. So - what shall I tell you know? I thank whoever nominated me for the Order of Merlin, I still can't really wrap my head around the fact that I won this award. In the past three month I have found in Slytherin a home and a place where my various - sometimes wacky, sometimes over enthusiastic - ideas are welcomed. At least nobody is running away screaming if they see me and I haven't caught anyone rolling their eyes. Thank you for that. But the most important thing is: Snakes remember... one of the most important factors of the house cup is the homework so - stop reading me trying to make up sentences with at least minimal meaning and go do your homework instead.

So all in all we have another two worthy recipients. I want to congratulate them both once again on receiving the titles. Also congratulations to Merryl on her upcoming marriage, and thank you Yesa for your hard work contributing to Slytherin House. Now I'm off to go annoy the SOUP editors into once more giving me a pay rise. Surely after these highly complimentary comments from these two award winners I'll be in with a shot.
