Hello and welcome to our Legends Among Us 2.0 exhibit here in the SOUP Offices. We have decided to turn our outer offices into a makeshift gallery of sorts for your viewing pleasure! Each month we shall endeavor to bring you delightful works from your fellow snakes who have been honored with our monthly awards across our various subforums.
So without further ado I invite you to join me at this month's gallery opening! First up, we have our beloved Heir of Slytherin for the month of July 2023, Mama Philly!
Hello fellow Snakes! I'm Terry (aka Mama Philly). To say I was shocked to be chosen Heir of Slytherin would be an understatement! Thank you so much for that honor! I am one of the Pottermore Refugees and I was thrilled to be sorted into Slytherin in both places. I spend my HEX time chatting or doing contests. I truly enjoy my time as a HEX Mentor & M.E. Secretary. I spend my non-HEX time reading, coloring, doing find-a-word puzzles; or playing games on my phone. I have some 3D Hogwarts puzzles to put together. Started the Astronomy Tower - but it's slow going. I also have The Great Hall. I completed a smaller 3D puzzle of Gringotts.
We are currently experiencing a rather hot/humid summer - my least favorite time of year. BUT that just makes mint chocolate chip ice cream even better! Sometimes I'll switch it up with a creamsicle or fudgesicle.
Next, we move on to our Snakelet of the Month for July, NatSilver!
Hello everyone I'm Nat, one of the Slytherin Prefects for the next few months. I definitely more of a winter person than a summer person, and there is nothing I love more than sitting in front of a fire with a good book. I love reading and writing, but my favourite hobby is definitely films. No matter what country or year it was released, I will always be up for watching a new film (or talking about them!) I love to chat with people, and love making new friends!
Join me now as we check out the latest artwork from our Magical Muse for July, Alanna Delacour!
Hi! It's me again! I was once again asked to be a part of this feature as the Muse Awardee, to which I enthusiastically said yes! I'm sure you've all seen me around but I'll do a little introduction anyways. My name is Mandi but you all know me by Alanna. I've been on HEXRPG for years but only recently started to weasel my way into all areas of Slytherin. Seriously though, I love our house and I'm so glad that I get to be a part of it all with you. Please feel free to owl me if you ever have any questions or would just like to chat, I promise that I'll try my best not to bore you, haha.
How about we hop on over to an offering from the winner of our Community Hero award for July, Mems!
Hello friends! I'm Mems, and I'm honoured to be the Community Hero for the month of July. I joined HEX in February 2023, and I was instantly blown away by how amazing this community is. Although I'm mostly a lurker (I'm still a little shy!) I spend most of my time on HEX participating in contests and fulfilling my Cheer SKWAD duties. I'm a pretty creative person -- I really enjoy journalling, writing, reading, and a little bit of drawing. A fun fact about me is that I live in New Zealand, which is located in the southern hemisphere. So while everyone on HEX is talking about summer, I'm trapped in the midst of winter! The summer talk definitely makes me a bit jealous, and it also has me absolutely craving some of my favourite summer foods. Pictured below is a quick doodle I did of some of my favourite New Zealand summer treats. There's a pavlova cake, which is a meringue topped with kiwifruit and strawberries. We also have some fun ice cream flavours here in New Zealand -- including hokey pokey, rocky road, rainbow paddle pops, and a bubblegum flavoured cowboy.
Last, but certainly not least, we leave you with this piece written by our Noble Slytherin for July, Amity CatWalnut!
Summer, especially as hot as the recent weeks have been in Houston where I currently live, usually brings forth memories of frozen treats. My memories of summers as a child, though, were filled more with images of books and all the adventures that they bring. Even though my birthday is in the middle of the summer, I've only had two birthday parties. The rest of the birthdays are wonderfully pleasant quiet times with my family eating out at a restaurant, opening presents from my family, and reading. Our biggest treat was to go to the library or the bookmobile every two weeks. During the summertime, we sometimes went every week. School was out and summer was blissfully spent lost in the lands of storybooks .
I think I can speak for all of us in saying that we wholeheartedly thank each of these brave souls for sharing a bit of themselves with us! Artwork in every form is usually something quite personal to each of us. We here at SOUP send our deepest gratitude and love to each of these amazing people!
Join me next month as we take a deeper dive into our next award winners in the noble house of Slytherin! This is your resident feline Editor, signing off as it's time for a cat nap!
