Global Frozen Treats
- Gregory Goyle

I've never been very good at this kind of thing, as you can probably tell from my useless title. But I'll give it a go. I've actually attended a college to help me with reading and writing.

A few years after the Battle of Hogwarts, I wasn't sure what I wanted to do. With Death Eaters either dead, in Azkaban or on the run, I had lost all contact with my father. Draco was actually the one who helped me, even though he never had the best relationship with Lucius either. I decided to attend college in the Muggle world, where no one knew me and I could start afresh. It was easier this way; a fresh start.

Anyway, enough of that. You see why I'm not good at this? I try telling you something and I get distracted.

Anyone got any food?

Right, right. The reason why I'm here. Let's think. Oh, yes. So, after college I actually found a job in the Muggle world. It's very interesting and fits me quite nicely. I bet you're wondering what it is, aren't you? Well, let me tell you.

I go around the world tasting frozen treats. How awesome is that? I can't really remember how it began, but I really enjoy my job. And there are a few I want to talk to you about today.

The Sno-ball is an American dessert that originates in New Orleans. Basically, it's shaved ice flavoured with sweet syrups. It is truly delicious and I thoroughly recommend it. And, come on, the name. You've got to laugh at that. Anyway... You can get Sno-balls in a variety of flavours. As I was in a magical village, I tried the Butterbeer flavour. It was truly magical. Was that a pun? I didn't mean it to be. Maybe I'm better at this than I thought.

Another lovely frozen treat I've had the pleasure of tasting is Havij Bastani. It's an Iranian take on an ice cream float. It's actually quite cool if you think about it. It combines fresh carrot juice and a scoop of ice cream. It can be sipped or eaten with a spoon and is always served in a glass. Because of the colour and the way of presenting it, it actually reminded me of Butterbeer without the frothy head. it was delicious.

The Halo-Halo from the Philippines is a refreshing summer dessert. It's made from mixed fruit and beans and topped with finely crushed ice with either milk or ice cream. Quite a few fruits can be used, but the one that I tried was mainly made using bananas and jackfruit. I know I've said this about the other desserts, but this was truly delicious.

Stracciatella is a variety of Italian ice cream, made from milk, cream and sugar, with chocolate bits swirled inside the mixture. It has a deliciously smooth texture and a slight crunch. Like with everything else, people told me about the history of it all but I'm still not good at remembering things like that. I struggled in school and I still struggle to this day. But I love food and know what tastes good.

And last, but by no means least, who can forget a good old Knickerbocker Glory? A classic British dessert that's pretty simple to prepare despite its multiple layers. For me, it has everything; cream, meringue and fruit. Traditionally, it's topped with syrups, nuts and a single cherry on top, but I've had it with all sorts and it still tastes lovely.

Well, all this talk of food has made me hungry. So, I'd better go and grab some lunch before I head off to visit Draco and his son. I'm looking forward to that.

I'll catch up with you all soon
