Want to help me compare our favorite characters with flowers and plants? Of course you do, we Slytherins love a good debate after all. So come with me and explore 12 of the most useful plants in the wizarding world and who we think relates to them, in some way.

- Wormwood: This plant is quite versatile and is used in many potions from the Draught of Living Death to the Shrinking Solution to Elixir to Induce Euphoria. One might call it something rather dependable and helpful, wanting to help everyone.

Harry Potter, incessant need to save everyone, right?

- Niffler's Fancy: I'm not certain that a plant can get any flashier or shinier than this one right here. It screams expensive taste and was even once used as currency a long, long time ago. Need I say anything more here?

Lucius Malfoy

- Puffapod: A fairly feminine plant of bright pinks and purples. The seeds bloom instantly on contact and the spores can make anyone who inhales them dizzy. This person is quite vibrant and stands out, but can make you dizzy with their words and explanations.

Luna Lovegood

- Squill: Talk about a stunning display of a floral variety. Elegance. Refined tastes. Useful in potion-making. This person is rather cunning and intelligent but they hide it beautifully behind a stunning fashion sense.

Daphne Greengrass

- Wolfsbane: Muggles often ignore this plant as it appears to be mundane and not entirely useful. Wizarding folk, however, have found a wide variety of uses for it and use it they do! This person is often invisible to others but find themselves to be an integral part of everything around them.

Regulus Black

- Gillyweed: Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be a fish but can't muster that level of Transfiguration? Try this plant instead. It allows the person who ingests it to grow gills as well as webbed feet and hands for a period of time. This person often finds a way to solve problems using easier formats than others, they don't make things too difficult.

Blaise Zabini

- Mandrake: Its scream can do more than its fair share of damage to a person but it can also be dead useful in more than one remedy. This person is LOUD and wants to be seen and heard, but can also prove to be useful at times.

Bellatrix Lestrange

- Wiggentree: Often found to be protected by Bowtruckles, this plant can protect those who touch it from darkness. This person is super powerful and is often found to be protected by many around them.

Lily Potter

- Dittany: This plant is rather plain and unassuming, but has rather impressive uses as well. It's a plant that almost everyone you ask will say you should have on hand for many reasons. This person may not be the most beautiful person around but they are impressive in their own right and it'd be advantageous to have them around in a pinch.

Hermione Granger

- Mimbulus Mimbletonia: Cactus-like. Awesome defensive abilities. Can ward off predators and the like. This person is feisty and not one you'd want to be on the wrong end of the wand with. They can be rather inventive in terms of their reactions.

Ginny Weasley

- Devil's Snare: An extremely deadly plant that is also rather aggressive. While leaving it alone and not struggling may help you out, it also has one weakness - sunlight. This person works best underground but is quite deadly and talented when provoked.

Barty Crouch Jr.

- Venomous Tentacula: A plant with more than one talent, if you will. It has ties to both potions research and defensive tactics. With a head like a Venus Flytrap and vines that can lash onto its victims, you'd better be prepared when you come into contact with one! This person is obviously dangerous, you can tell just by looking at them, but there is more to them than meets the eye as they are more defensive than offensive.

Remus Lupin

What do YOU think? Have I gotten them right, or do you think that someone else more readily personifies one of these plants? Come tell us how awful I did over in our SOUP thread in the Common Room.
