Book Club - Let's Hear it from the Staff

By Shadow

This month was more of a research month for me rather than a review month. With the summer heat & wild desires to party, even I, a professional nerd, was dragged out of the library and taken to many parties. During these late party hours I decided to stay loyal to my Book Duties & I began snooping around for other people's opinions. What makes it all greater is that, these amazing people happen to be no other than our SOUP staff! Here they come with their favorite books:

Demostene

Dune by Frank Herbert is one of my all-time favorite books. A masterpiece of the Sci-Fi genre, this book's plot centers around the desert planet called Arrakis, the only place in the galaxy where melange can be found (the most expensive and unique commodity in the universe), enfolding the intricate and complex political, social, mystical and psychological webs as young Paul Atreides delves into its mysteries.

Deidra

My favorite book is "Harry Potter and the Socerer's Stone," because that one book was key to meeting some of my closest friends, and has taught me more life lessons than I could ever count.

Luxa

My favorite book is Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. It is the beginning of the grand adventure that gave me a lot of happiness when I was younger (and when I read it over again). It was the start of one of the most successful fandoms in history and I'm just so thankful for Harry Potter!

Kay85

my favourite book for now apart from HP and LOTR, is Black Dagger Brotherhood's Lover awakened. It's a story of tortured souls and redemption. It's also a story about unrelenting love I love it!

Scorpiodude31

Hunger Games. The whole plot and setting of the is like a harsher Triwizard tournament I love it.

zzz628

My favorite book is White Fang by Jack London, a book showing the deep struggles of a wolf who was tortured and bullied in to hatred and fear. I found the beautiful transformation of characters in this novel to be quite touching and inspiring.

Felicitystormborn

Wuthering Heights: A tale of love and heartbreak; the truth of life etched within the binds of a book.

Lenalie

A Game of Thrones: A complex and beautifully written novel unlike anything I have read in a long time. A fantasy that does not shy from the truth of reality, with flawed characters, twisted plots, and real struggles that will make you cry and seethe with rage in the most wonderful way.

xxmissyxx101

My favorite book is called the Book Thief, a thrilling story taking place during the World War II in the depth of the tragic days of darkness. Through the course of the story, the coldness of war & the heat of hearts all reunite together with the power of words & books

Let's hope all you Slythies start reading those books immediately. I'll have to return to my next chapter of Game of Thrones, it's a much better way to spend summer.

Cheers!
