I look upon the Gates of Minas Tirith,
From the Pelemor Fields,
And wonder how everything works,
All the cogs and wheels... everything.
I walk inside the Gates to have a look,
At all the cogs and mechanisms.
Someone notices me having a look
And comes over to me.
I ask the soldier about the Gates
He isn't surprised but I'm curious.
He asks the Guards of the Gates
To close them slightly so I can watch.
He explains how everything is linked,
And the cogs whirl and connect the chains.
I found it fascinating to learn about
And want to make a mini one.
I headed to the Armoury
To see what I could use
To make my own model
As I really wanted to.
I worked for hours on it
So much that the stars appeared.
I looked out of the window
To see them there.
Eventually I finished,
Long into the night.
I tried it out and it worked
I couldn't believe what I had done.
Morning came and I hurried to show the King
What I'd managed to do. He just looked and chuckled.
As if he'd been expecting it
He must have known what I'd learnt.
He said it could help people
Learn about the Gates
I just looked and smiled
Finally glad to help.
