I was out running errands on a beautiful spring morning when I received my OWL from my darling SOUP editors. What theme did they dream up this month? Upon opening my OWL I discovered it was steampunk. What in carnation am I going to do with that? I am not familiar with steampunk other than that it's victorian mixed with machinery. Stuffing the OWL in my satchel I continued on to run my errands.
Heading to the north end of Diagon Alley, I sauntered my way to the Apothecary to get ingredients for some potions as I was running low. As I entered, I began to look around. I was assaulted by a horrible smell, a mixture of bad eggs and rotted cabbages. Barrels of slimy stuff stood on the floor; jars of herbs, dried roots, and bright powders lined the walls; bundles of feathers, strings of fangs, and snarled claws hung from the ceiling. Going to the counter, I ordered my potion ingredients and noticed one of the jars was made into a lovely decoration. I had a brilliant idea: I would make one with a steampunk theme for the editors.
Leaving the Apothecary, I noticed a junk peddler off to the right selling, well, junk. So I decided to take a closer look. As I examined the peddler's cart, I noticed old clocks and watches, pipes, and car parts. Ah, perfect - exactly the kind of stuff I was going to start looking for. I picked up some gears, cogs, and an old watch and clock. Paying for them, I placed them in my satchel. Looking for a good place to take off, I began to head home to my cave. I am so excited to try to make a steampunk Apothecary Jar.
