Scorpius Malfoy sat in his room at Malfoy Manor when a photo caught his eye. He realized that his father must have put it in his room whilst he'd been away at Hogwarts. He rose from his bed and walked over to have a look at it. As soon as he realized what it was, he felt a pain in his heart. It was he and his mother in the Malfoy Manor Rose Gardens before Astoria's premature death.
It had been rather a cool spring and, being desperate to get outside, Astoria had begged Draco to allow her to go and sit in the Gardens. Her health had been in decline and she had been desperate to get outside for what could be her last time. Scorpius was home from Hogwarts and joined in the begging of his mother's and Draco had backed down rather quickly and had allowed the ailing Astoria outside.
The three had gone to sit in the Secret Garden, a place that Narcissa had restored during her tenure as Lady Malfoy as it was Astoria's favourite place to be. Scorpius wasted no time in filling his mother in on the comings and goings at Hogwarts. Of course, he mentioned Albus Potter and his mother was so delighted that her son had someone who would be able to help her son through her death. She knew it was coming and trying to prepare Draco for her loss was hard enough, let alone her son.
Scorpius now held the photo frame in his hand and he went to sit down by the window and looked out over the Gardens and his eyes fell onto the Secret Garden's hidden door. He thanked his lucky stars that it had been a cool spring day or there would have been no way that his mother would have been outside. It was Christmas now, but his mind was lost in the memories of his father carrying his mother, wrapped in blankets, into the Secret Garden. The flowers were just beginning to blossom and the birds were singing. It almost had seemed a picture perfect image had it not been for his mother wrapped up and looking deathly pale in blankets. Scorpius had been sat close to his mother, he remembered it well, making sure she was comfortable and telling her about whatever she'd asked. The scenery was the polar opposite to the emotions of the family. Astoria and Draco had tried to be strong for his sake, but Scorpius could remember the hidden emotions that he could see in his parents' eyes.
The young Malfoy then felt the need to be close to his mother so he wrapped himself into his winter clothes and headed to the Secret Garden, the photo in his hands and was soon inside the Garden. He headed over to the Summerhouse and went inside, sitting down in his mother's chair and closed his eyes. It was the first time he'd been in there since his mother's passing, and it was the first time he'd truly felt close to his mother again since that Spring morning before she'd been taken from him.
