Puzzling Things
- By Morgana

The perfumed flowers are our sisters; the deer, the horse, the great eagle, these are our brothers. The rocky crests, the juices in the meadows, the body heat of the pony, and man - all belong to the same family.
~ Chief Seattle, 1854

In 1854, the chief of the Native American Suquamish and Duwamish tribes wrote a letter to the American government which wanted to buy land from his people. Chief Seattle's letter displays a great love of the earth, animals, plants, and the environment. His words are especially meaningful in 2020 as we face the hazards of global warming and climate change. He urged the white people to respect nature and to protect the planet. His advice is as important now as it was in 1854.
