Chatting With
By nicole2013
I don't know how you all feel about talking to others about your writing, but I find it helps when trying to brainstorm ideas. This is why I've been spotted sitting at the edge of the Forbidden Forest with Len, my fellow SOUP freelancer. I had so many ideas spinning around in my head for my article that I just had to talk to someone! Just had to. Whilst our chatting (and getting off-topic because that's what happens when you've got so much creativity flowing), I decided Len would be an amazing subject to try my interviewing skills out with...since Merlin knows what reason I decided I'd be able to pull off having and publishing an interview.
Sitting across from Len, the interview began with me not entirely sure what to say first. Might as well start with something easy. "What are three words you think describe the Slytherin house, that aren't the normal 'ambitious' or 'cunning'?
"Family, open, singular," Len listed, obvious pride radiating from her face.
Her pride sparked my next question. "Were you expecting to be sorted into Slytherin?"
"Oh, not at all. It came as a bit of a shock. I wholeheartedly expected to be sorted into Ravenclaw, but I feel like I have since grown into my role as a Slytherin and I wouldn't have it any other way." Her response surprised me a bit, but definitely seemed like a Len answer.
From there the questions came out of my mouth without much thought. "One thing that makes you proud to be in Slytherin is? Don't state the obvious, we know we're amazing."
Though, her answer sure makes Slytherin more amazing. "I love how diverse this house is. While we are all united by one or more Slytherin traits, we are very unique and each of us brings something new to this great house of ours. The best part is that we accept each other's differences and view them as assets rather than detriments."
"Now, not all of us love being sorted into Slytherin, so what is some advice you have to those students?" I questioned, getting more comfortable with being an interviewer.
"Give it a chance. Look past the surface. We may seem scary at first, but beneath that you will find some of the kindest, most brilliant people you will ever meet." With that type of advice maybe Len should tell Pansy to scoot over.
"What do you do as a Slytherin student in your free time? Besides writing, that is."
"I lounge about in the Common Room and Girls' Dorm. I will admit to being an extremely lazy person whenever I can be, though I'm usually talking to other Slytherins or reading a good book. At least I'm doing something productive, right?" I think I should start being like Len a bit and stop my procrastinating.
"What do you look forward to, as being a new addition to SOUP?" I just had to ask, also being a new writer.
"I look forward to improving my talents as a writer. I also look forward to getting to know my fellow staff members better. You seriously cannot have enough Slytherin friends." I definitely agree with Len. Slytherins are the best friends to have.
"I just have to ask, do you like Wrock? I'm quite the fan. Think we could hang out sometime, away from our SOUP duties?"
"I've heard one or two Wrock bands, and it's pretty good! We could definitely hang out sometime. You could show me some more Wrock music!" Yes! I was hoping she would be, or become, a fellow Wrock fan.
After that we just started chatting about music. I got so interested in the new muggle music she was comparing to my Wrock that I forgot to write it down, so this is where the interview ends. Thanks to Len and her willingness to go along with my shenanigans.
